why the conservatory ?

well, because, it’s a lovely word with lovely connotations – in architecture, an attached greenhouse for the cultivation of plants and living things; in education a boarding school devoted to the practice and study of specific arts. conservatories are where things grow, sheltered and nurtured.

(in the game Clue, it’s the room of purple paisley and piano music for some reason. and, for some reason, and the one i most dreaded as a child…)

this is and should be a place for us to cultivate our own work: to share thoughts and inspirations with eachother, to share versions of work within and outside of banyan’s walls, to converse and critique constructively, to creatively cross the distance that divides us.

we should always consider this a work in progress. it’s been built – fitting the theme – in WordPress, transparent like the windows of a solarium. let’s use it and imagine new ways of using it, let’s populate it daily and fearlessly…

mostly,let’s get in the habit of hanging out here.
